Overview of Final Fantasy X

Final Fantasy X was Square Enix's first Final Fantasy game to be published on the Sony Playstation 2 and the graphical leap in comparison to Final Fantasy IX (the last installment on the Playstation One) astounded critics and fans alike, especially during the FMV sequences. The game itself focuses on the story of Tidus, a young man who lost his father at a young age. He finds himself in Spira, playing a part in something far bigger than he could have possibly imagined and it all starts off with him being swept away to Spira, a world very different from his own.

Many fans consider Final Fantasy X to be a perfect example of what a Final Fantasy game should be, with the reception on the whole being largely positive. The characters were very endearing and while the story was linear in nature, it progressed at a nice pace. One of the main criticisms that people had though, was the lack of a free-flying airship, which was removed in favour of a much simpler approach.
